Re: im looking for a good laptop
"Good" is subjective. What might be a good laptop for one person isn't good for another. So, we'll need to know what you're looking for specifically.

Will I need a new router? and 32 vs. 64 bit
I am currently using a Belkin wireless "G" router. 2.4ghz, 54mbps. Shopping for a new laptop, I see them marked as "N" routers. Will I need to purchase a new router too? As well, switching to 64 bit, does that affect any software I currently use? What should I be mindful of? Many thanks.

Laptops that are N capable are also compatible with G.

Re: Apple USB Ethernet Adapter-does this 1 works on windows 7?
I've found some unofficial drivers available from here that might work. Note that these are not tested and not warranted by Apple or Future Shop -- use them at your own risk!

For your uses, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the AMD laptops.

advice on laptop to replace desktop
i'm looking for some advice on a new laptop. -weight doesn't matter, we just want a laptop so we can turn the computer room back into a dining room, we won't be taking the laptop anywhere. -we use the computer for the regular stuff- internet, pictures/videos, microsoft office suite. -we want a 17" screen as we don't have a TV and will be using the laptop to watch movies on. -we probably don't need the fastest thing out there, we don't do gaming or anything, but we don't want the laptop to be slow as molasses in a a few years either- want it to last as long as possible before becoming obsolete. a friend has recommended the new intel i5 processors, but those are a few hundred dollars more expensive than the AMD dual cores... for our purposes which would you recommend? any advice, suggestions, recommendations?

Re: Best laptop for a Linux build
Linux requires less resources then Windows so you'll be fine assuming you buy a laptop with decent specifications. I recommend Linux Ubuntu or Fedora.
